Odinstat vs YouTube Studio

YouTube Studio shows you the chart. Odinstat takes the same data, tests each video against your own channel’s baseline, and tells you when a difference is real and when it is noise.

They are not substitutes. Studio owns the native charts, real-time counts, Trends, comments, and everything Odinstat never stores; Odinstat owns the question “is this actually different, or does it just look different?”.

What Studio does that Odinstat does not

Studio is the source of truth. It has every metric YouTube collects, real-time views, revenue down to the day, comment moderation, the Research tab with search Trends, and it is free. Odinstat connects to a subset of that data through the YouTube Analytics and Reporting APIs and stores daily video metrics, retention curves, traffic sources, demographics, geography, and revenue. Anything outside that list still lives only in Studio.

What Odinstat does that Studio does not

Studio ranks; Odinstat tests. Studio will tell you a video has 40% more views than your average. Odinstat tells you whether that video is a statistical outlier against your median (modified Z-score, MAD), whether your recent videos are better than your earlier ones (Welch’s t-test with Holm–Bonferroni correction across metrics), which thumbnails earned more clicks than their reach predicts (log-linear CTR residuals), and how long your videos keep earning views (decay fitting, half-life).

Every one of those results carries a significance check, and when your channel does not have enough data for a reliable answer, Odinstat says “not enough data yet” rather than drawing a chart anyway. The full method behind each analysis is public on the Methodology page.

The Channel Assistant answers questions about those computed results in plain English. It writes; it never does the arithmetic, so it cannot invent a trend the statistics did not find.

When you need both

Use Studio daily for what is happening now. Use Odinstat when you are deciding what to make next and want to know which of your past results were signal. Agencies and creators reporting to sponsors also use Odinstat’s scheduled PDF and Excel reports, which Studio does not produce.

What you need

Odinstat connects read-only through Google OAuth to a channel you own or manage. It cannot change anything on your channel, and it does not show statistics for channels you do not have access to.

What this is not

  • Replacing Studio. Odinstat does not moderate comments, show real-time views, or surface search Trends.
  • Public statistics about other channels.

Odinstat runs this on your own channel, read-only, with a 14-day free trial from $10/month.
